Israel Launches Attack On Gaza In Response To Rocket Fired From Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacked in the early hours of Monday a series of targets of the Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas ) in Gaza , in response to a rocket fired this Sunday from the Strip.

For the fourth consecutive day the rocket sirens sounded this Sunday in Israel before the attacks launched from Gaza in the border towns of Kissufim and Ein Hashlosha, although the Israeli anti-missile system (Iron Dome) stopped them, according to the local newspaper The Jerusalem Post .

In response to this offensive, the Israeli Army attacked four Hamas outposts used for military training, as well as a weapons storage and manufacturing site and an underground tunnel, the IDF reported on its social media.

For its part, Palestinian media indicated that explosions were heard in areas of the north and south of the Strip, and that machine-gun bursts were fired at Israeli Armed Forces aircraft in the city of Rafah, in Gaza.

Shortly before the rocket launch on Sunday, IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi had warned that the Army “will protect the Gaza border and will not accept any violation of [Israel’s] sovereignty of any kind.”

“We are attacking vigorously for every violation and will continue to do so, and if they increase, Hamas and the Gaza Strip will pay a heavy price,” he said.

This Sunday was the anniversary of the unilateral withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza in 2005.
